Just letting you guys know that I have a new website now at http://www.poweredbykilroy.net, so I won't be using this blog anymore. I'll be posting on my new site instead, so update your links accordingly. :P

I also apologize for the total lack of updates during the last few months. I've partially been waiting for this new site to be done to post anything, and partially because life hasn't been treating my well enough for me to be in the mood to post anything anyway. But life is good at the moment. :)

Anyway, see ya on the new site! :D

Bread Statistics (and Proposed Restrictions)

Hi all. I haven't updated in a while, so I'm gonna present you with something funny that I read today in stats. We're learning about how certain groups of data can have an effect on other groups of data, and how hidden variables and things can trick people into believing that some groups of data have effects on other data when in reality they have no realistic effect at all.

Anyway, enjoy. Another post on the ups and downs of my life coming later.. probably.

Bread Statistics and Proposed Restrictions

Whereas:

More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.

Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.

In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.

More than 90 percent of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread.

Bread is made from a substance called "dough." It has been proven that as little as one pound of dough can be used to suffocate a mouse. The average American eats more bread than that in one month!

Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.

Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.

Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.

Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.

Newborn babies can choke on bread.

Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute.

Most American bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling.

Therefore:

In light of these frightening statistics, we propose the following bread restrictions:

No sale of bread to minors.

A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign, with complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.

A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.

No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage.

The establishment of "Bread-free" zones around schools.

— Author unknown. Found circulating around the interwebs.

The funniest five minutes of my life, ever.

I have the craziest friends.

So, if you know me, you know that I'm on the school's Impact Team, which is a group of people that meet together for a class period to practice and process skits about drugs, dating violence, depression, suicide, and other high-profile topics that kids and teenagers need to know about. The mood in that class can get very tense sometimes, what with all the seriousness of the topics we talk about.

So inevitably we are always finding ourselves doing things that, well, make us laugh. And we have an awesome time in Impact Team. Some of the funniest people in our school are on this team, and anything - that's right, anything - can just randomly happen out of the blue. It's crazy sometimes. But in a good way. A very good way. :)

Today after we finished practicing our skits that we have to present to the junior high health class students next week, we decided to unravel in a nice game of "freeze." Now, for those of you who don't know.. Freeze is an improv-style game where you and another person have to think of a funny situation on the spot, and other members of the audience can yell out "FREEZE!" at any time and take one of the two peoples' places. Eventually, Archie and Morgan ended up on stage together. Those two, especially Morgan, are probably the funniest people on the team.

They proceeded to act out a scene somewhat parodying a scene in our skit on dating violence, when all of a sudden someone yelled out "freeze" right when they were in this pose. Now, we can end up freezing in some pretty, um.. interesting poses, but this one just takes the cake.
<picture>
</picture>
<picture>However, we decided to end up going on with the scene as-is because it was just too funny. But this is where it goes over the top: Right before Archie attempts to say his signature line "I'm feeling smothered!," our principal walks in the room to see what all the laughter is about. (Our class is just barely down the hall from his office.)

We couldn't control our laughter at all. The thought of Archie and Morgan displaying their usual antics in front of the principal was just priceless. The principal ended up walking out of the room wondering what the crap we were all on that day. :P Right as he left, the bell rang, and I ended up talking to the principal assuring him that we weren't quite as crazy as he thought. :D

Overall, you just had to be there and to be a part of the team in order to really get it. Anyway, that's my crazy story for the day. As far as the rest of life is concerned.. school is alright (except advisory sucks.. we read the most messed-up story ever in that class today.. but that's for another day, another post), work is stressful (especially now that I'm a shift leader).. I've spent the last few days watching the new U2 PopMart tour DVD and it is amazing. The season premiere of The Office is tonight.. so I guess you can say that life is pretty good.

Anyway, until next time, catch all you.. um, couple of readers later!</picture>

Incubus - Light Grenades

Alright, here goes nothing - my first CD review on Some Kind of Web Log. I recently got into Incubus after hearing "Dig" on the radio a lot, though I've known about them for a while. I gave in and bought Light Grenades, and it's a really good CD.

Incubus are known for their music that blends rock with elements of rap, funk, and sometimes progressive rock. Light Grenades is no different. It's very rockin', but that doesn't mean there's some of the slower, more accessible stuff too that they have been known for as well. My favorites are the aforementioned "Dig," a somewhat ambient, U2-ish ballad with some truly amazing and really deep lyrics (one of my favorite lines is "Remind me that we'll always have each other, when everything else is gone"), and "Anna Molly," my definite favorite song on the CD. "Anna Molly" is very fast paced with lots of crazy percussion (what I love to hear in music :D), and just the right amount of guitar. It spent #1 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart for several weeks and it deserved every single week on there, in my opinion. If you don't want to pick up the CD, at least give "Anna Molly" a listen. You may just change your mind.

Other standout tracks to me include the song, "Light Grenades," which is two minutes of pure classic Incubus: fast paced and explosive, it's the song I've listened to most in iTunes from this CD. It's amazing. "Rogues" is another great track, with some awesome guitar and great lyrics. "Earth to Bella," which is featured on this CD twice in different incarnations labeled Part One and Part Two offer somewhat of a softer break from the otherwise very rock-based songs on this CD. These two songs are very melodic and have beautiful acoustic guitar that, in Part One, suddenly explodes with bombarding electric guitar riffs before again relaxing back into acoustic guitar. It's pretty cool the ideas that Incubus comes up with in their music.

Overall I'd recommend Light Grenades to anyone that likes alternative rock music and wants to expand their horizons somewhat. Great job, Incubus. More blog entries coming after the break.

Look! Braden updated his blog! *screams like a little girl*

Why, yes I did. And hey, it's about time for my long overdue, monthly (!) update. Yes, I'll try to update my blog more often. I'm going to start really focusing on making my blog your one stop shop for everything Kilroy-related.

Anyway, earlier last month I went down to Zion National Park for a priests' quorum camp. We did some really trippy hikes, like hiking the Narrows, which consisted of wading in a rocky river-bed half the time.. (yes, we hiked in a river.. don't ask my why anyone with any kind of sanity would ever want to do this). We also hiked Angels' Landing.

Oh yes. ANGELS. LANDING.

See the top of that mountain? Huh, you see it? Yes, we hiked a trail to the top of that mountain.. no seriously. To the top of that mountain. There's a trail that leads up there.. and several portions of the trail leave you without any sort of handrail with a 5,000 feet drop on either side of you. Yikes. There are handrails most of the time, but you don't have any sort of safety equipment on and you must brace yourself as you scale this ginormous mountain. But oh my gosh, the view and the satisfaction you get after you climb to the top is just surreal. The only thing that I can compare it to is drugs... and I've never done any sort of drug, ever (and never will) so I couldn't tell you. :P (Yeah, I act like it sometimes.)

Also, school has started.. though you all probably knew that. I'm a senior, which frickin' blows my mind. (Erin still refuses to believe that I'm a senior already.. neither do I, really.) This year, I'm taking english, yoga (heck yeah!), physics, Impact Team, foods, seminary, stats, and U.S. government. Oh, and lunch, too. Yay.

So what's coming up in the exciting future of SKoWL? Well.. I'm gonna start posting CD reviews for some of my favorite CD's as I buy them, since music is my main hobby.. I'll start out with Light Grenades by Incubus, my most recent CD purchase, and I'll review other CD's that I have loved in the past or new ones that I purchase. I might also start posting cool things I find on the Internet, since computers and the Internet are my passion. Woot! I'll of course keep you up to speed on my life and my adventures as a senior.. though I really doubt any of you care, really. So, I'm suffering from lack of sleep once again so I'm gonna post an old chain letter I got a while ago. I'll write about some more of my summer adventures sometime in the near future. Well, that's all. Now for the chain letter. (sigh.. can't you tell I'm a little out of it right now? haha)

For a couple years I've been blaming it on lack of sleep, not enough sunshine, too much pressure from my job, or anything else I could think of. But now I found out the real reason I'm tired.

Here's why. . .

The population of this country is 273 million.

140 million are retired.

That leaves 133 million to do the work.

There are 85 million in school.

Which leaves 48 million to do the work.

Of this there are 29 million employed by the federal government.

Leaving 19 million to do the work.

2.8 million are in the armed forces preoccupied with killing Osama Bin-Laden.

Which leaves 16.2 million to do the work.

Take from that total the 14.8 million people who work for state and city governments. And that leaves 1.4 million to do the work.

At any given time there are 188,000 people in hospitals.

Leaving 1,212,000 to do the work.

Now, there are 1,211,998 people in prisons.

That leaves just two people to do the work.

You and me.

And there you are, sitting on your butt, at your computer, reading jokes.

Nice. Be There!

Ah yes. Sploosh. That word may invoke a lot of different thoughts for different people. Some people may think of a certain peachy substance in a certain popular book/movie.. others may simply think of... water parties. For some reason.

In the case of about 20 or so people this last Saturday, they indeed thought. of WATER PARTIES! OMGLOLWTFBBQ!#!@#!#@

Ahem... anyway.. My friend Jacki and I organized this gettogether with a whole bunch of friends, involving water, water, water, more water, pizza, kool-aid, night games, water, and there's probably some more. It turned out to be a smashing success. We were thinking about playing some organized water games, but the whole thing just kinda turned into some kinda water melee. Nonetheless, it was a blast, and everyone there had fun, too.

So what else has your favorite friendly giant been up to in July? First of all, I went to Bear Lake for a week.. that turned out to be one big boredom-fest. :( We didn't really do much else besides swim (in a swimming pool) and go on the occasional trip to the beach. Oh well. I also went up to Utah State to participate in Impact Team training. Holy crap, that was a blast. We got to be up there with like four other teams from my school district. Not only were we trained and instructed, but we also participated in a high-ropes course, wrote and performed a skit on dating abuse, and most of all, we had a whole freaking bunch of fun doing it all. Oh yeah, and I totally made the entire crowd just go insane with laughter after my introduction. "I'm Braden, and I was obstructing public view." It's hard to explain using just words, but let me tell you, I felt so proud of myself after literally stealing the show during the team introductions. Everybody there wanted to be friends with The Obstructor after that. :D

Anyway, if I can think of anything else to type right now, I will. Maybe. Well, I'm out. See you all lata.

Summer Status Report – Pretty Awesome

Hi, everybody. Anyway, it's been a while (like, a month or so) since I've posted a real post here. (well.. there *was* that last one, but you can just pretend like that post doesn't even exist for now.) I just plain haven't really wanted to post anything lately. Well, now I want to. I now present to you: Summer Status Report: Aught Seven.

So anyway, right off the bat, the first weekend, I took the ACT. Ugh. It was my first time taking it, and it had it's ups (reuniting with pretty much all my former junior class one more time) and downs (well... the entire test :P) I got a 27 on it, not *too* bad for my first try. Later that night was another multi-stake church dance. I've decided that these things really are fun, after all. There was music, fun, crazy dancing, all the things that you usually associate with things like this. The chance to meet up with friends (even a couple new ones, too) was pretty sweet. I even slow danced with all five of my Viewmont dance dates. Yay.

Later this month I went to my ward's first Youth Conference, which, I have to admit, was a lot funner than I anticipated it being. We went to various different places in central Utah.. We spent most of our time at a house/cabin thingy in Fairview, but we also went to Clas Ropes Course in Provo, Snow College to play some games, and the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti. Other highlights included an attempt at playing water games, which actually erupted into a huge, two-hour long water fight (with 5-gallon buckets of water galore), before the games could even be set up. Attempts to actually play any sort of organized game backfired pitifully. It was a blast.

That's most of the major stuff that's gone on so far. There's probably been more, but I can't think of anything else. But yeah, summer so far has been awesome. It's been the funnest summer ever, and I owe it all to you awesome people reading this thing right now. Yes, there has been a tonsfold increase in hanging-outitude. Almost every day this summer I've been at somebody's house, and my cellphone usage has gone WAY up since summer began. (Thank goodness for unlimited texting) The fact that two of my best friends now work with me at the Murph also helps, too. Oh, also, I think I've finally figured out how to get more people to come to this thing. Post links to it in certain publicized places. I think it's working. Well, I'm out. Peace.

Some Kind of Web Log: Post Number Twenty-Eight

This is the opening paragraph of a post on my (Braden, AKA Kilroy) internet weblog, appropriately titled Some Kind of Web Log. It usually starts out with an introductory sentence, briefly stating the main topic of what this entry's gonna be like. Then there are a couple more sentences, usually starting out the story or topic that I am going to talk about. They tend to be somewhat conversational, as if I am directly speaking to you. This is intended to provide a personal feel to the entry and to make the overall tone more friendly.

Then there is the second paragraph, where I then proceed to go into the topic in more detail. The editorial tone of this paragraph can vary, however, between the conversational style typically displayed in the first paragraph, and a more formal, book-like tone that most blogs feature. The detail is gone into much, much more in the second and subsequent paragraphs, as this is the main body of the entry.

Oftentimes, a third or even fourth paragraph is added, if I happen to have a lot to say about that particular subject. Usually if it involves my awesome friends in any which way possible, up to ten, possibly even fifteen or twenty additional paragraphs may be added.

Then there is the closing paragraph, where I try to wrap the entry up, usually by posting a summary of how boring my life has been during the time since my last blog entry. (Oftentimes, after I finish the post and publish it, I will forget to leave out one important detail or two, and I will have to edit it, usually multiple times, to include said detail.) Then I try to think up a somewhat imaginative closing line, like, "See ya'll when you're against the wall" or something similar. That's when the entry ends, and you may proceed to read better, more worthwhile internet websites, such as this one. Or maybe even this one..

Emit Remmus

Finally! Summer is here! And it's about time, too.

I've been waiting for this moment. Although I do have some end-of-school-year blues, and some serious concerns about my English and History grades (let's just say that I probably won't be getting that almost-4.0 after all.. :S), I'm glad that one of the major stressors of life has been postponed for three more months.

So exactly what am I doing this summer? Well, I have various conferences/camps... such as my ward's first-ever youth conference (go figure :P), the obligatory Priests' Camp, and of course Impact Team camp. Add to that work, a trip to Bear Lake, and, um.. hanging out with the posse, and you've got a fairly loaded summer right there.

Of course, I'm open for hang-outs and high-fives, too. Just give me a call. If you're reading this, you've probably got my number. :P Seriously, I need to get more visitors to come to this poor little blog. Oh well. I kinda like the secluded nature that websites with very few visitors have.

Anyway, I should post a rant about something. Maybe. Ehh, I'll do that later. (Nobody ever reads it, though, so nobody really wouldn't care except me, but still..) Anyway, so, what's been new? A lot, actually.

I guess.

So basically I've been spending May earnestly wishing that school was over and done with. Before the last couple of weeks or so, I've been somewhat indifferent about school ending, but now I'm firmly in favor of it ending, for good. (well.. it's gonna take another year for *that* to happen) but I'm more than ready for summer to come. Also, it looks like I may, for the first time, be getting as close to a 4.0 as I can without actually getting one: I'm on track to getting all A's except for one A minus. I just need to actually <strike>finish</strike> start all my late work that I need done for Greaves, prod Mrs. Barenz to fix my F that I oh-so-stupidly got for missing class to take an AP test, and I'm good. :P

I also tried out for and made the school's Impact Team (a group that puts on skits for elementary and juinor high students about drugs, violence, bullying, and other topics), which is awesome. I can't wait to be a part of this next year.

Anyway, I've just been hanging in there, listening to music (such as the new Linkin Park CD, and some Red Hot Chili Peppers CDs that Xochil hooked me up with), and hanging out with friends. Me and my little group went to Spring Fling at the new Rec Center together, then trekked out to Salt Lake to eat at Souper Salad. It was fun. We also watched Rat Race after. One of the funniest movies of all time, to boot. :D

So that's basically just about it. Okeydokey, now for a good closing line.... um...

.... I think it's bacon. There.

Best weekend ever!!

Yeah, that's right. You heard me. This weekend has surely been one of the greatest weekends of my life, no doubt about it. So what has made this particular weekend so great, you say? Welll....

Friday was my birthday. That statement right there tells you that it was a pretty special day, but it was more than just, ya know, "today's my birthday, yay.." First off, it was a late start, so school started two hours later. Second off, it was a school-wide pajama day, so I, of course, wore my PJ's to school. Third off, Erin made me an awesome birthday cake (pictured) that we got to eat at lunch with a whole bunch of my friends, who sang happy birthday to me right before we ate the cake. And fourth off, I got to do lots of various activities with both Erin and Kira after school.

First was going to see the junior high's production of Disney's High School Musical, which our friend Dan is in (he played the announcer, Jack Scott, and did a dang good job in doing so.) The quality of the production was typical of junior high musicals, but it was still really good and I had a great time.

Next off was going to see the Jon Schmidt concert at Viewmont. Ten minutes before the concert started, my friend Adrian, who is really good friends with Jon Schmidt, invited me backstage to meet him. I was amazed at how cool of a guy he is. Seriously, he was very lively and upbeat, probably the most upbeat person I've ever met, which is pretty awesome. The concert was amazing - if you've never seen this guy play the piano before, you NEED to see him in concert - he really puts on a show. But this particular show was special to me because he wished me a happy 17th birthday and acknowledged that to the entire audience, while playing me a short birthday song ("This is a birthday song, it isn't very long..!"). He also played another song just for me that I requested him play, "Pachelbel Meets U2". I really felt special at that concert last night. Jon, you are one of my heroes.

Finally the girls and I got Papa Murphy's pizza and we met back at my house to watch a movie. At 11:30 PM, after spending eight hours with them doing stuff, I drove them home. They're really awesome friends.

Anyway, Saturday was prom, and that day started out being quite stressful for me, what with my family being somewhat uncooperative on working with me to get ready and all that, but it all worked out. Around 12:30 I picked up my date, Dana, to come to my house to play board games with Adrian and date Miranda, and the temporarily-dateless Stormie. We played a couple games that I hadn't played in several years, such as Motor Mouth. It was pretty fun. Then around 4:30 I picked up Dana again, as well as both Stormie and her date, Kyle (the Prom King, I must add) to take them back to my house to meet up with Adrian, Miranda, Matt, and Lyndsay to go out to dinner at the Olive Garden.

We got there and realized that it was an hour long wait so we instead travelled over to the nearby mall to look around and count how many weird looks that we were getting. (I think we got up to 65 before we stopped caring enough to count.) Dinner was great; most of us ended up getting cheese ravioli for some reason. At the table there were small tubular packages of sugar, and we kept on putting packages of sugar in our mouths to get, er, "high" off. :P Great times, great times. Of course, the dance itself was fun, (though getting there wasn't always the case, with people complaining about my scary driving and my tendency to tailgate Matt often :D) and Dana and I had an awesome time.

So that was my awesome weekend. Yeah, I never know how to close these blog posts anymore. I can't think of any closing lines for this post, so as I usually say.. insert cool closing statement here!! <insert></insert>

No-rules volleyball = INTENSE

Just got back from a combined stake-wide priest/laurel activity. We basically went to a park and ate barbequed hamburgers and hot dogs, and did whatever else people do in a park. A few of my friends decided to go up and, er, "check out" the volleyball net there, so I finished my food and went up to join the volleyball game in progress.

I must say, volleyball must be the most intense sport on the planet. Especially the way my group played it. We didn't really care much about the rules or anything, we just decided to hit the ball and have a great time. We even decided to make up a plot to destroy the other team's sand castle that they were making (we were playing in a sandlot). Great times, great times.

So, I've been hanging in there. My birthday's coming up a week from this Friday, and I've planned lots of various activities that happen to coincide with this special(ish) event, such as going to see the junior high's musical, going to a Jon Schmidt concert, and going to prom. So yeah, that'll all be fun.

Well folks, this is Kilroy, signing out. Why? For the most part, we are required to wear crappy clothing (i.e. collar and tie), and secondly, they never play any cool music (Hah!). On this particular occasion, however, my friends were pressuring me to go, so I did. I must admit: It was worth it."

Welp, turns out that I went to this multi-stake dance as well. (the 16 to 18 year old one, as opposed to the 14 to 15 year old one that Dan probably went to.) Usually it's only maybe two or three stakes that are a part of these dances, and to be honest, I don't have any close friends that are in my stake or in the immediately surrounding ones, so I've never gone to any of these church-sponsored dances before. But this one had a whopping seven stakes involved. And hey, I actually knew some people that were attending this dance! Of course, I had Adrian pressuring me to go, and with the fact that a few of my, er, "girlfriends" were attending too, I just couldn't resist going.

And it was indeed worth it. I got to really talk with a few close friends that I hadn't really talked to for a while, slow danced with a few girls, and I even, after talking it over with some people there, decided for sure who I'm gonna ask to prom. Yikes. But yeah, this was well worth going to. (Turns out these church-sponsored dances weren't all that bad after all! :P)

I love my friends

Well, it's Easter Sunday, and also the last day of Spring Break. This break has actually been pretty good; not only did I manage to get away from doing my calculus "homework" that I was supposed to be doing all this week (I can barely do math at school, imagine doing it while you're on a week-long break), but I did lots of fun things with my friends, and stuff.

....ummm, okay, well, not everything was particularly fun, but.... yeah. So, to start things off, on Friday, I had to work a 3 to close, for the fourth Friday in a row. Ugh. What especially sucked was that I had to help Arbys (er... Ryan) close for his first time ever as a shift leader. That's not good. The two of us ended up staying there until 11:00 PM, as there was an abnormal amount of work that we still needed to finish.

In the meantime, a few of my friends, Erin, Kira, and John went over to the new South Davis Rec Center as it was a free night, and I had promised them that I would meet them over there after I got off, which I was anticipating to be around 9:30 or 9:45. Welp, that didn't happen, and I was in a really really sad mood, as I felt that I let them down somewhat. Plus, I had next to nothing to eat that night, and I felt like crap. Ryan kept on telling me how sorry he was for making me stay this late, and I kept on apologizing for the several short breaks I was taking because I didn't have much strength to do anything fast. We were like brothers that day. (well, kind of.) Then, around 10:30, my friends called me from the rec center. I told them that I likely wouldn't be making it over there, and they were perfectly fine with it. They basically lifted my right up with that phone call, and that definitely got me through the rest of that night.

Later that week, on Thursday, we got back together to watch some movies, this time, with one of my best friends Dan joining us. Then, on Friday night, the five of us all went to the rec center again. This time, I managed to just barely get off work in time to pick up Dan, Erin and Kira (John was already over there as he had a few of his friends already over there.) We went ice skating and swimming. Now, keep in mind, this was only the second time in my life that I had ever gone ice skating, and the first time, well, was a complete disaster. This time, though, I had the help of my friends, Erin and Dan especially, basically teaching me how to ice skate. Of course, I looked like a complete idiot out there on the ice, but I didn't care. I was with friends. We all went swimming after that and it was a whole lot of fun.

To top it all off, on Saturday I went over to Melissa's house to go to a party there with a whole bunch of her friends. We did various things such as playing football in the dark, watching home movies, and getting into a crazy fight with shaving cream. Not only did Melissa's yard have shaving cream all over, but there were at least two or three people that were absolutely covered from head to toe with shaving cream. (I managed to stay relatively clean, thank goodness.)

Anyway, I don't think I could have mentally survived Spring Break without these precious moments spent with some of my favorite people. It's amazing that just one and a half or two years ago, I was basically a loner; ever since I moved back in 2000, I haven't really had more than like one or two people that I could talk to until I came to high school. Now I have a whole bunch of friends and I'm really grateful for you all: you guys rock. (Oh, and I apologize for the length of this entry.. :D )

T-minus two days and... I am desperately needing a long-ish break from school. Although I'm a little concerned about the lack of interesting things that I'll be doing over this week long break from reality I don't really mind.

Anywayzors, how has life been treating me? Prooty good, I guess. I can't complain. It snowed today, though. I was actually expecting a little bit of spring to finally grace us, or possibly even summer, but oh well. Morp was wonderful. I finally have normal shifts for work this week.. three hour shifts are quite wonderful compared to all-day working marathons. :(

Welp I seem to have run out of eventful things to talk about, so now on to my rant of the day. Trix.

Yeah, Trix. That awesome, fruity cereal with those sweet little fruit shapes. Seriously, eating a bowl of that stuff just felt like eating every single fruit in the world, and it was one darned great feeling. Then... they had to go all Sonic-the-Hedgehog on us and change Trix so it, well... sucks.

Basically, after 15 or so years of producing Trix as fruit-shaped cereal pieces, they reverted back to how they used to produce Trix for over thirty years prior... as boring, dull, sphere shaped pieces. They basically took all the fun out of eating Trix, formerly one of my all-time favorite cereals, and made it boring. Why, General Mills, why?!

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy Trix. I just really wish they'd keep it the way I grew up with it. Anyway.... peace out. Err, check me later, peeps. Whatever the closing line of this entry's gonna be today.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://farmerbb.blogspot.com/2007/03/t-minus-two-days-and-counting.html' title='T-minus two days and... It's been too long. about three and a half weeks too long. I've probably lost a couple visitors in the process, too (even though a couple visitors is all I really had, anyway :D) But now I've updated.

So I'm right in the middle of two humongous working marathons. One of them was yesterday, after school, 3 till 9. Ugh. It was so unbelievably hot there at the Murph that we had to open the door (and that didn't really help much at all) and keep it open till like 8 or 8:30. I was so unbelievably tired and exhausted from the heat that I'm surprised I made it through it all. But I'm NOT excited about today, as I have to start work at 10 AM and I go until who knows when. I'm guessing sometime around 7 or 7:30. Crap!

I don't think I can handle working in insanely hot weather conditions for that long. Hopefully Dave will have enough sense to turn on the air conditioner early. :)

Anyway, an update on various things that people don't really care about anyway... I have a Wii now, and for the past couple of days my life has basically consisted of school, work, sleep, and Twilight Princess. Those four things, and pretty much *only* those four things. Dang, I could probably use more of a life. At least it's not school, work, computer, and sleep, like it used to be. :D Third term ended yesterday, so now I have even less homework than I used to have (read: almost none.) I wish school was more interesting.. it seems like I never do anything and I just want it to end. One more term left of school... and then it's down the finish line to all of my senior year and then graduation. I'm getting old.. My sister's birthday is next week.. Morp is next Saturday. I'm going as Aladdin, and Erin will play the part of Jasmine. Yay.

Well, I guess that's my update for this month. Err... yeah, it won't be another month between updates anymore. I can do that. And now, I will leave you with a dancing banana. Because I feel like it.

Woot.

Bwahaha! Boredom strikes again!!

Yeah, you heard me right. I'm.... really bored. This weekend (by the way, it's a three day weekend, cause of President's Day today) has simultaneously been really fun and exciting.. and also rather boring. Seriously. I'm bored out of my mind right now. I'm getting tired of doing nothing but sitting around the house listening to the same two CD's I bought a couple days ago and looking for something to do on the computer even though I've done seemingly everything there is to do on it this weekend and then some.

Anyway, what have I done so far? Friday I went to work then headed straight over to Dan's house to sleep over. Initially it was just us and his friend Christian; before the night ended Patman and Sheaman were added to the mix before Christian and Shea had to go home and the three of us slept over and played Wii. It was great fun. Saturday I came home, bought the aforementioned two CD's (Eyes Open by Snow Patrol, and Sam's Town by The Killers), listened to them, then went to work. Sunday I got up, went to church, ... and then the nonstop boredom struck.

I've spent the rest of Sunday and all of today so far bored out of my mind, and it's likely that the rest of today is going to be the same, as a planned movie party with Erin, Kira, and Matt G. had to be canceled because of conflicts. :( What am I to do?

Well, I'll probably be going over to Costco today to get a new cellphone, as my Razr got washed yesterday. (blame my dad.) But I somehow doubt that'll happen. I think I'll go play some Sonic right now. I've wanted to do that. But that won't last long. Maybe I'll go for a walk around the neighborhood or something..

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://farmerbb.blogspot.com/2007/02/bwahaha-boredom-strikes-again.html' title='Bwahaha! Every day, I'm always finding myself so groggy I often cannot concentrate in class. Reading books, for example, has suddenly become a struggle for me simply because I can't concentrate because I'm so tired. Just doing any kind of class work is somewhat of a challenge to me lately, in fact. I've also found myself drooping my head frequently, something I've only ever done before in 7th grade, in Mr. Vendetti's Utah Studies class.

But why am I so tired? I just can't quite figure it out. Maybe it's because I have one more factor in my life that I haven't had in years past - a job. But that shouldn't affect myself too much - I never work later than 9 or 9:30, and the work I do (making pizzas, for Pete's sake) is hardly tiresome. Maybe it's because I stay up past my, er, bedtime.. I've always tried to make it to bed by 10:00, but I frequently (read: almost every day) stay up to do homework (or.. other things, like listening to music or fiddling around with my cellphone :P). But I've done all that before.

Then why am I so tired, then? I have no flippin' idea. Anyway, some random things of note.

- I'm going sledding tommorow for a combined Priest / Laurel activity thing. Yay! I haven't had the chance to go this year. I just hope I can, um.. figure out how to fit my body onto my sled first. I really hope I can.

- Ummm... today was a B-day. Now I know this is random, but I really love B-days. First, I have Seminary, with Brother Chang. That guy is awesome. Then I have US History, or at least, that's what it's supposed to be. In reality it's "sit around and do nothing for an hour an a half". Seriously, we do nothing in that class. That class combined with my math lab period basically means three whole hours of sitting around doing nothing but listen to my iPod and play Sonic Jump on my cellphone. Oh, and playing calculator games and maybe doing a problem or two of calculus. Then finally I have desktop publishing, which is fun too. We design flyers and other cool things. It's really cool.

- Speaking of calculator games, I tought Melissa how to play those said games today. Finally, another piece of technology that she knows how to use! (Okay, now that was really random..)

- And finally... lemon meraingue pie rocks. (Not that I like it or anything, but it just rocks. Okay? Go with it.)

Well, that's it. See you guys around. (Are there still people besides Dan that reads this blog? I sure hope so. Maybe Megan discovered it when I tried to get her to go to my site today... oh well.)

Read My Mind

That is the title of a song by The Killers, on their new album, Sam's Town. It may just be my new favorite song. Well, okay, let's think realistically here: It may just be my new second favorite song. (I don't think any song in existence can dethrone U2's Discothèque from the spot of my favorite song.) It's a great little song, starting out with the finest of electronic synth noises, then subsequently bursting out into great percussion, and a little bit later, so awesome U2-like guitars. It's like something my pretend, fake band Blue Crush would make. But you don't really need to know that. Anyway, I bought it off iTunes yesterday, though I don't really know why I bought it. But last night I think I, um.. read my own mind. I think I needed that song.

On a seemingly unrelated note, yesterday was the day of that Surprise Dance.. I took my friend Kira to it. She thought it was rather boring for some reason, so she talked me into going to my house and watching Pirates of the Carribean instead. So we walked out to my car to find that it was completely boxed in. Turns out that there were like five or six cars that decided to park right in front of two rows of cars, basically making three rows of cars, leaving the middle row of cars blocked in on all sides. My car was right in the middle of all this, so we went inside and got Officer Bryson to take down the license plates of the third row of cars. He took them to the DJ at the dance, who subsequently called out the license plate numbers.

The plan worked somewhat, as two or three of the cars moved in fear of getting parking tickets, but after a while there were still three cars left in the third row, and one of them was still blocking our way. Thankfully Bryson recognized the car directly in front of us, and he knew the person that drove it. He told the DJ the name of the person and he called out their name, but they still would not go out and move their car. Finally Bryson tracked the kid down (after a little distraction: a group of kids were driving recklessly in the parking lot and he had to arrest them) and finally we were able to leave.

So, yeah, that's my crazy story for today. Now I gotta go out and shovel the snow on my driveway before my dad comes home. Welp, the reason why I haven't updated much is because they're hasn't been anything good going on to post about.

On New Year's Day, my entire family except my brother and me were half dead. Well, they were sick, but they pretty much looked and acted half dead :P My family were pretty much sick the rest of that week, but I only had minor throat and voice problems. Anyway, the rest of the new year as been pretty much average, borderline-bad, until just recently when it's finally been back to 2006 standards of goodness. And that's good.

So, this is just my post saying that I'm still hanging in there and I still have interest in this blog. I'ma end it here, but just cause I can't really type right now. It's a combination of the fact that I have a bandage on my right pinky, and my hands are cold right now and I can't really type when they're cold anyway. Welp, see ya, and happy Aught Seven, y'all.

It's X-berween!

No, wait, we don't live in Free Country, USA.. it's Christmas! Yay! Christmas break has been somewhat fun, but today has been the funnest. Well, now it's time to brag about what I've gotten so far. <strike>My parents</strike> Santa Claus gave me this schtuff:

- A Plug-and-Play TV Pac-Man game. Ya know, one of those cheap little game thingys you just plug right into your TV's video/audio ports and play. You know what I'm talking about. This one features the original arcade Pac-Man, and three other, less popular Pac-Man arcade games released back in the 80's: Pac-Man Plus, Super Pac-Man and Pac & Pal. (Yes, there were actually other Pac-Man games released besides Ms. Pac Man..) Check it out. I'ma post a pic:

- A strategy guide for The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Wii. The only problem is, I don't have the said Zelda game that this strategy guide is for. I don't even have a Wii :S Oh well, guess I can study up on the game until I actually get one.

- A new pair of black Sunday pants, and a crapload of socks. Woot.

- And, a whole bunch of candy. Pretty much everybody I have connections to: my parents, most of my friends and coworkers, etc. have given me so much candy, I think I might asplode. Oh my.

Anyway, what about the things that I've given my family members and even some of my collegues? Welp..

- I gave my brother & sister a Gamecube game, Crazy Taxi. I used to have this game back when I had a Sega Dreamcast, and it was the funnest thing ever. I played that game so much, back then, it's insane: I've had the Gamecube version now for not even three days and I've already finished all of the Crazy Box missions. Yay for me.

- As for my mom, I gave her the new Josh Groban CD, Awake.

- And my dad, I gave him the U2 movie/documentary, Rattle and Hum, though that was more for me than for him :D I didn't really know what to get him, but I thought he'd have some interest in this.

- My friend Dan, I gave him Metroid Prime. In return, I got a whole bunch of old computer games and software, including an ancient version of Photoshop, and an old Need for Speed game. Oh, and The Sims, kind of..

- I bought a whole bunch of Kit Kats at Target the other day and gave them out to my friends at school on Wednesday. Yeah, I'm cheap :P

- And what about myself? I gave myself the U2 Zoo TV DVD using a gift card that my boss gave me for Christmas, and I just got done ordering another Gamecube game off teh interwebs: Midway Arcade Treasures 3. I mainly ordered this just for the games Hydro Thunder and San Francisco Rush 2049, both of which I enjoyed on the Dreamcast and would like to own them again for the Gamecube.

Welp, that just about does it for Christmas gifts. Oh, some of you guys may wonder why I didn't get a Nintendo Wii for Christmas: well, it's nearly impossible to find one nowadays, and my parents obviously didn't. But it's coming, as soon as Toys R Us replenishes their stock, they're supposed to be shipping one out to us, complete with a few games. One of them is Zelda. Anyway, I hope you guys are having a great Christmas. Has fun.

ATTENTION!

ALIENS ARE COMING TO ABDUCT ALL THE GOOD-LOOKING AND SEXY PEOPLE.

YOU WILL BE SAFE, I'M JUST SAYING
GOOD B Y E ...........

School is out, until next year

Finally.. school is out. And it's about time. I almost feel like I've been robbed of my second half of 2006, because it's gone by so fast. But it's all good, Christmas is almost upon us, and that's all that really matters, eh? Horpfully I'll be getting that certain gaming system that I've been wanting for a while.. if that turns out to be the contrary, then I'll just live with the various Gamecube games I'm planning on getting my siblings.

Anyway, I got a crapload of candy yesterday (of course, I gave away a crapload of candy yesterday, so I didn't really get much of a surplus..), plus, I just got done going to a little work party type thing this morning, where I got a stocking full of stuffed animal ducks that quack Joy to the World, and some other stuff. We were supposed to go bowling yesterday, but that didn't happen. Ah well.

So, I hope the very few readers that I have, and everyone else I know, will have a very Merry Christmas. Oh, and I apologize for the lemons post. That was quitely random. But, like I said, it's all good.

Lemons

I thought that some day I would be writing a post about lemons on here, so why not now. So, yeah:

Lemons are awesome. I don't really know why I'm so uberly obsessed with lemons, but I just love them. No, I don't like the taste of them.. too sour. Lemonade isn't exactly my cup of tea either (duh, that's probably 'cause lemonade does not equal tea, stupid.) But I just love lemons.

Don't ask me why. It's just an obsession.. that I have. Lemons have this bright yellow color, and they are so perfectly round - er, perfectly, oval-shaped. On the outside, lemons look so delectable. But on the inside, you'll find the most bitter tasting food this world has ever seen. How can something so perfectly round-ish and yellow be so good on the outside but so uberly bad on the inside?

That's a question I just can't answer. Nonetheless, lemons rock. They're everywhere. At the store, in your kitchen, on stage at U2 concerts (those kinds of lemons are the disco ball kind! Yay!), inside your drink (as lemonade, so I guess it's just the juice), on my cellphone (well.. not anymore. My cellphone wallpaper used to be lemons, but then Jacki took a picture of me with this strange facial expression, and she's been forcing me to keep it as my wallpaper ever since.), and probably some other places.

Anyway, the usual boring life update: ummm, yeah, nothing interesting has been going on. Nothing at all. Well, bye, all two of you that read this blog. Hmm, what should I remember then. Oh, yeah. Well, maybe. </strike>

Okay, so, I need a topic for this week's blog entry. That isn't "my boring life" (a topic that nobody really cares about anyway, at least, I don't think anyone does). Hmmmm, a topic. How about.... pants.

Pants are awesome. If one did not wear pants, then during the winter, their legs would be freezing cold. Wait. There are certain kinds of pants, called shorts, that you wear and you will still be freezing cold when you wear them during the winter. Contradictions, contradictions! Oh my gosh. Quick! Assemble the navy! The universe is going to asplode! All hands on deck! This ship is going down!!

...okay, so, the universe really isn't going to asplwhatever, the church is still true, blahdeblahdeblah. Welp, okay, where was I. Oh! pants. Okay, so, pants. Are. Awesome. That's all you really know.

In other seriousity, my brother got baptized yesterday. That's really cool. Midterms came this week, and my grades suck the most they've ever sucked, like, ever. Seriously, I'm not like this when it comes to grades. I blame it on Radiohead. Well, not really. I think I really should go do some of my homework. That's what I really blame my bad-ish grades on. Really, really.

Snow!!

Wow, I seem to be only updating my blog once a week now. Strange. Well regardless of whether or not I'm actually intending on updating my blog only once a week or not, there's snow on the ground now. And it's about time. School started again today after thanksgiving break, and my gosh, I needed that break. Though I didn't really do anything except go to the grandma's to eat food, and work a whole lot. I worked for 10 whole hours on Saturday. That's just unhealthy.

Anyway, what to write.. ummm, Christmas is in less than a month, I gots my flu shot today (fun, I know), I just ate a crapload of pizza, and.. wow, I just got a text. Okay, *that* was random. I'll see you guys around. It was so he could get a Nintendo Wii at midnight. I didn't buy one though.. I just came because I've always wanted to wait in line for something big like a game console launch. I must say, it's an interesting experience. But hey, at least it was worth it to be among the first human beings to play the Wii without the constraints of a kiosk.

We played Wii Sports and Twilight Princess. (the latter of which Matt obtained on Friday somehow.. when he tried to register it Nintendo emailed him wondering how the heck he got a copy of the game in the first place :P) Anyway, Wii Sports is a blast. I can't believe how easy it is to just pick up and play. Twilight Princess, on the other hand, I found quite difficult (mostly because I'm used to using a controller while playing Zelda games) and I still haven't quite got the hang of the Wii's unique controller, but I'm sure I will someday.

So, I've been bored all weekend, just working, and hanging out at home finding something to do. The rest of my family all went up to Park City for the weekend but I couldn't 'cause of work. But hey, it's all good. I'm really tired right now. I stayed up 'till around 4:30 or 5 and woke up around 7:30 watching a U2 DVD that I bought last night, the one where they perform at Slane Castle in Ireland. (Yes, it was an impulse purchase... gosh, I'm a fanatic) so yeah. Did I mention that I'm extremely tired right now?

I think I'm just rambling on right now, about stuff. Stuff that the general public doesn't really have the interest to know. Does anyone actually go to this blog? I know Dan does, and I know of a couple other people that I know that have commented here about stuff. But yeah. I'M REALLY TIRED. I need some sleep. Or perhaps some caffeine.

My Date with the Nintendo Wii

Well, I only have a fairly limited amount of time to type this up because my psychopathic little brother might come storming in at any minute and demand the computer back. But anyway, yesterday I went over to my friend Dannysauce's house to hang out all day. We were bored, so we decided to go for a walk over to the DI, look around at the stuff there, then get dinner at Arctic Circle and walk back home.

Our plans went something like that at first (with a few detours to the 3-D video and Zeponie's pizza..) but then after we walked home from Arctic Circle, we decided for some reason to go down to Target. So we went down to Target. And then after that we ran over to Gamestop. And after entering inside Gamestop, I didn't know it at the time, but my life would never be the same. (Okay, that's an over exaggeration, but it sure felt like it at the time)

Gamestop had a kiosk displaying the Nintendo Wii. Yes, Nintendo's next video game console that is going to revolutionize gaming forever. I obtained a Wii-mote from one of the employees, (handing over my shiny new driver's license in the process) and proceeded to play some Excite Truck. Man, playing that game was very fun, and although I had to get a bit used to the controls at first (I'm used to controlling virtual trucks with little control sticks, not by moving the entire controller left and right) the controls eventually, well, controlled like a dream.

Well, after several Excite Truck sessions shared by both me and Dan, and after exploring around the Wii's various "channels", we returned the remote, got my precious license back, left Gamestop, and walked home, satisfied that we had finally fulfilled our life goals - play the Nintendo Wii. Anyway, time's up. See you guys later.

(Oh, and if you juys have absolutely no clue what I've been talking about here, click this link and be prepared.)

I Am Bored

So, since I haven't updated this stupid thing since Monday (and even that wasn't really an update, just some silly little thing I make in 5 seconds using Fireworks) I really want to post an update today, as if I don't, I may lose interest in blogging like I have since, well, since before I started this blog :P

Anyway, I don't really know what to write about today.. besides the fact that I got only around 4 hours of sleep last night. I stayed up a bit longer than I should have playing (no, seriously:) calculator games. Yeah, go figure. Plus I had this 4 hour long planning meeting for planning out all the mutual activities for next year that started at around 7:00 in the morning. Ouch. Major sleep lackage, doods.

Welp, I got my real driver's license today in the mail.. and I have car insurance, but my dad still won't let me drive around anywhere. (Well, he did let me drive to the stake center for the above mentioned planning meeting, but that's because it's only, like, a half a mile away.) Apparently I'm only limited to driving to church and to work for now. Yeah, it bites. But hey, that means that on the days that I work, I can pretend that I had to work a bit later than usual so I can visit some of you peoples after I get off work! It's the perfect plan! Muhahahaha!

Anyway. Wow, I guess I found something to write about today. Fun, fun, fun. Ummm... closing quote. Lemme think of one here. "A mole, digging in a hole, digging up my soul now, going down, excavation." There ya go.

I must be really bored right now, or something.

Got the car and the car chase, what's he got inside the case..

Okay, that title was random.. anyway, today my dad and I went to that multi-stake conference thing at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City. First of all, a good portion of the people there were denied access to the actual conference center building, even though there were reportedly several extra seats still available. So then a whole bunch of the people had to get relocated to the Assembly Hall, where my dad and I eventually ended up sitting (not the best building to sit in for two hours, in my opinion.. the seats are so cramped, and you have so little leg room, it's not even funny) But yeah, it was worth it, I guess, to see Thomas S. Monson read funny letters and reveal phone numbers of 11 year olds to 70,000 people. (Okay, okay.. that's only stretching the truth a little bit, yalls).

So anyway, enough of what I did today. Um.. here's a couple random things I have to say.

* I don't think I ever want to drive on the freeway again. The freeway scares me.
* U2 starts touring (yet again) on Tuesday.. hopefully they'll actually play some songs from Pop this time around.
* Nutella is addicting. Very addicting.
* This game makes me hungry.

...Yeah, that's it. I'm out of schtuff to say. So.. peace.

Late Start day..

So, right now I'm trying to find something interesting to do during the two hours we have, cause it's Late Start Day. So far I've just been finishing up some Super Stupid Smart Math that I was too lazy to do last night, while listening to some Weird Al, making macaroni and cheese for my sister, and posting on my new blog. So now, I think I'll tell you a crazy story right now.

Anywayzors, I got back from work around 9:45ish last night.. I was closing, but at 9:00 me and Yancey were almost done doing the stuff that the closers always do every night. All the dishes had been done, so I pulled the plug on one of the drains. But guess what? The pipe to the sink I was draining wasn't aimed toward the actual drain that the water goes to. So basically, I flooded a good portion of the backside of Papa Murphy's.. Anyway, Yancey told me that Drew (the most experienced employee there) did the exact same thing last night, so it apparently does happen quite a bit around there.

So yeah, that's my crazy story of the day right there. And now, the get up noise. *geddup noise sound*

Hi! I'm actually thinking of starting a, *cough cough* real *cough cough* blog now, so, hopefully I might actually start posting on it soon.
